Lewes Station 1857 to 1889
Lewes station is a major junction station with a long history of development. The first station was a terminus built in 1846. In 1857 the site of the station was moved westward and located on the junction of lines from London and Brighton. In 1889 this station was demolished and the current station built on the same location but with major rearrangement of the trackwork and platforms.
My primary interest is in the 1857 station from both a historical photographic and a railway modelling viewpoint. To support the railway modelling I started developing 3D CAD models of the structures, however, over time this has become a primary area of activity in its own right and the physical modelling barely progressed. Although there are structures still to be modelled I feel there is enough material to share renderings of the models completed to date with people who are similarly interested in this period. Note: I have not found to date any architectural drawings from the period therefore the models are my interpretation using photographs and large scale maps of the period to estimate dimensions and materials.

The National Railway Museum/Science & Society Picture Library and The Sussex Archaeological Society have kindly allowed me to reproduce low resolution images of some of their photographs to allow comparison to the models.
There are many sources of reference for the LB&SCR and I list some that have been most useful to my specific interest in the references page. References
Feedback is welcome, particularly if it provides further detail to improve the accuracy of the models. drigler@2bdeveloped.co.uk
