Railway Themed Garden Structures
Engineered Desk The forms found in Victorian engineering are aesthetically pleasing to the eye as well as being functional. The structures I particular wanted to strike a resonance with in furniture design were the sweeping iron and steel arches of bridges and station canopies together with the cast, forged and machined shapes found on steam locomotives. The "Engineered Desk" shown here is the first piece developed on this theme. The main structure uses European Oak with contrasting pins and inset table surface of American Black Walnut . Details on the construction of the table can be found in an article written for Furniture and Cabinetmaking Magazine, Issue 223, October 2014. To up load PDF of article please click here.
